“A Journey of Self-discovery” organised by the School of Communication (SCOM) was held on 1 April on campus. The event aimed to equip senior students with a positive attitude to meet challenges ahead of their internships and career development. Various coaches were invited by the School to guide students through the experience.
Professor Ronald Chiu, Associate Dean of the School, opened the morning session of the workshop by sharing his own internship experience. The students then engaged in a sound and music therapy experience led by sound therapist Ms Mina Cheng, during which students were able to achieve a state calm, and peace of mind and body. Two year-4 students, Ms Leung Ka-wing from BJC and Ms Ofelia Fok from CMCT, were then invited to share their experiences in their internships.
In the afternoon, Mr Michael Cheng, a family therapist, led a variety of group activities to encourage students to explore their inner-selves and help them find meaning and contentment in their life’s journey. The process aimed to help students better manage academic and work pressure without losing faith in their goals, beliefs and values.
In the final part of the workshop, students shared their aspirations with each other and hung aspirational messages on the ‘Tree of Life’. The School hopes that this workshop helped students feel more confident about any future challenges.
