HSUHK’s Cloud Innovation School (CIS) has received international recognition at the 11th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN 2026), held online on 29 August. A collaborative project developed by CIS, the Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Bolly Express Ltd., a partner of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, won a Silver Medal and the TÜMMİAD Special Award.

The award-winning project, “BEXTools-ESGPath: An AI-Driven ESG Intelligence System for Decoding Corporate Sustainability Reports and Prioritising ESG Capability Roadmaps”, is a cloud-based AI platform that helps organisations, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), navigate complex environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements. It transforms sustainability reports into actionable insights and prioritised capability roadmaps, helping organisations assess ESG performance, identify priorities, and develop sustainable strategies.

The TÜMMİAD Special Award, presented by the Turkish Inventors Association, recognises impactful inventions showcased at international invention competitions.

Dr Jack Wu, Head of the Cloud Innovation School and Associate Professor of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Management, said, “This recognition affirms the potential of cloud intelligence and explainable AI in addressing real-world sustainability challenges.” He added that ESGPath helps organisations identify priorities and build ESG capabilities, while providing SMEs with practical guidance on sustainability planning.

The achievement reflects HSUHK’s commitment to innovation, knowledge transfer and industry collaboration, demonstrating how cross-sector partnerships and emerging technologies can turn research into practical solutions while enhancing the University’s international visibility in innovation and sustainable development.
