Ir Dr HO To Sum, George holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he taught a variety of academic subjects, with a focus on Decision Analytics, System Simulation, and Service Operations in undergraduate and master's programs. Since joining The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong in 2018, he has been recognized with the Teaching Excellence Award in 2021. He has also spearheaded several collaborative projects with commercial companies such as PCCW, MTR Corporation Limited, Pok Oi Hospital, and Sino Parking Services Limited. His research project, "EBizbot," a real-time mixed reality-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) system, received the "Silver Award" at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2023. Additionally, he is an expert in IoT and "Smart City" technologies. His research has led to over 170 international journal and conference papers, many of which are published in well-known journals such as "International Journal of Production Economics," "Decision Support Systems," "Industrial Management and Data Systems," "International Journal of Production Research," and "Expert Systems with Applications." Over 120 of his publications are listed in SCI/SSCI, and his h-index for publications is 34. In 2021, he was recognized as one of the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University. Given his expertise, he serves as the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Engineering Business Management, Editorial Board of International Journal of Manufacturing Engineering, and Vice-President of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (Hong Kong).
