This course will start from the understanding of information management (IM) with the process of creating value from the organization’s intangible assets. In order to transform information into a valuable organizational asset, knowledge, experience, and expertise must be identified, codified, distributed, shared, reused and applied. IM is considered as a key competitiveness to create a sustainable edge of companies in today’s business environment. On the other hand, with the advancement of Information Systems & Technology (IST), information and hands-on experience of IST-based Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) is inevitable for graduates of SCM.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. describe the fundamental concepts in the study of information and its creation, acquisition, codification, transferring, sharing, and management;

  2. identify the role and use of information assets in organizations and institutions;

  3. tell the core concepts, methods, techniques, and tools for building comprehensive knowledge strategy for companies, in the contest of ERP; and

  4. develop techniques of applying and integrating appropriate components and functions of various knowledge management and IST-based ERP systems.
