or with the Instructor’s permission and upon endorsement of the relevant
Chairperson or Programme Director.
This module aims to introduce to students the overall planning of the survey
operation, collection and selection of samples, design of questionnaires and the
corresponding analysis of data. Various survey sampling and estimation
methods, and important issues in questionnaire design are to be addressed.
Students form project groups to carry out a survey and analyse the data
with/without the use of computer software. Students are also required to present
their findings to their peers and professors in a professional manner.
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. understand the fundamental principles and a working knowledge of survey sampling, particularly on the design of questionnaires and the sampling methods;

  2. apply survey sampling skills and techniques with/without the use of computer software effectively;

  3. interpret and present the results in a scientific and concise manner; and

  4. work effectively in a team and solve problems logically, analytically, critically and independently
