This module introduces students to the contemporary issues in International Business that illustrate the unique challenges faced by manages in the international business environment. It covers a broad range of international business issues from an interdisciplinary viewpoint and emphasizes the key concerns of the multinational and global corporation. It focuses on the necessary skills to analyze the business environment of foreign countries as potential markets for business. It helps students develop the mind-set and perspective expected of a business person working in international contexts.

Topics include international business environments, international trade and investment, government influences on trade, cross-national cooperation and agreements, global strategy, and international business operations.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. tell the role of global economies in the development of nations;


  2. identify the impact of trade barriers on economic development and ways of removing them;


  3. name the main criteria for international expansion; and

  4. apply skills on key processes for managing cross-cultural boundaries, e.g. communication, finance, marketing and methods of balancing home market activities and international expansion activities.
