By recognizing opportunities and providing job vacancies, entrepreneurs contribute a lot to the country or community. Furthermore, in the context of widespread downsizing for advancement, an entrepreneurial career has become an attractive alternative. In Hong Kong, for example, around 15% of working people are entrepreneurs.

This module is designed to equip students with appropriate concepts and techniques to be potential entrepreneurs or corporate entrepreneurs. Using an approach from general to specific, the module is divided into three parts. The first part gives the students a general understanding of the nature and importance of entrepreneurship and corporate entrepreneurship. The second part focuses on the analytical and technical aspect, through which the students can gain hands-on experience by doing a simulated business plan. The third part discusses with some specific contemporary issues in entrepreneurship, particularly appropriate for the students from supply chain management or technology disciplines.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. describe the nature and importance of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship;


  2. analyze and plan for new ventures from various important aspects;


  3. recognize entrepreneurial issues, particularly from a technology perspective; and


  4. grasp concepts and techniques to serve as potential (corporate) entrepreneurs.
