單元概要
A general introduction to many aspects of banking law and practice is provided. A broad overview of the law relating to negotiable instruments, securities, electronic banking, credit and charge cards and the banker/financial institution-customer relationship is also provided. Students will examine the manner in which the law has been used as a facilitator of social and economic policy in the field of banking and finance. Also considered is the role of non-judicial forms of conciliation and mediation in the resolution of disputes over aspects of banking practice.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. identify the interlinking of the different regulators within the Hong Kong financial regulatory framework;


  2. explain the essentials of the basic banking and finance law;


  3. apply the principles of banking and finance law via case studies and problem solving; and


  4. explain the banker and customer relationship, the variety of banking products and their links with the banking and finance law.
