This module adopts a skill building approach that aims at providing students with practical
perspectives on how research can be applied in real business situations. Throughout the
module, students are expected to learn a full range of management research skills, including
research problem identification, data collection and analysis, and research report writing,
etc. These research concepts and techniques help students use research- or evidence-
based information for making management and other practical decisions. Real-life case
studies are required and examples are provided to give students a comprehensive view of
modern business research methods. It helps equip students with a basic understanding of
management research methods, so that they may conduct simple research projects in the
workplace. It also lays groundwork for students who want to pursue further studies that need
basic research concepts and skills.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- describe basic research methods for management and other business-related disciplines;
- explain how management research contributes to practice knowledge in business and management fields;

- apply research findings as evidence-based information to make managerial decisions in the workplace.
