It was inscribed onto the third batch of the \u201cList of the Representative Items of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage\u201d in 2021, and on the first \u201cRepresentative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong\u201d in 2017. As a cornerstone of Hong Kong\u2019s popular culture in the 1940s and 1950s, its lyrics reflected the social realities of the time, offering a vivid glimpse into the daily lives, customs, and cultural practices of past generations.<\/p><p>Arts@HSUHK proudly presents \u201cThe Past and Presence of Naamyum (Southern Sound)\u201d. This captivating Cantonese narrative singing tradition will be performed by Naamyum maestro Professor Yuen Siu-fai, and a talented ensemble of Chinese instrumentalists.
