The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) held the \u201cUniquely Common\u201d Concert at Hong Kong City Hall yesterday (18 September) to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the founding of HSUHK, and to raise funds for its \u201cStrategic Campus Development Fund\u201d.<\/p>

Dr Christine Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education was invited to serve as an officiating guest at the Concert. Featuring a stellar line-up of star performers, Dr the Hon Moses Cheng, Council Chairman of HSUHK; Dr Stephen Suen, Chairman of Marga Group; Mr Arnaldo Ho; Dr Alex Chui; and opera singers from the Hong Kong Grand Opera were some of the many esteemed performers. Dr Moses Cheng joined Mr Edward Cheng, Independent Non-executive Chairman of Hang Seng Bank; and Dr Anthony Chow, former Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club for a special trio performance. Elevating the atmosphere at the Concert, Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, played the drums alongside Dr Patrick Poon and Dr Francis Yuen, Co-Chairmen of the Concert Advisory Committee, and other distinguished guests, students, staff and alumni.<\/p>

Ms Diana Cesar, Chairman of the Board of Governors, expressed her gratitude to all participants of the 45th Anniversary Concert who made the special occasion a remarkable success, noting that the occasion would not have been possible without the generosity of HSUHK\u2019s donors and supporters.<\/p>

Dr the Hon Moses Cheng, remarked that the encouragement received at HSUHK\u2019s inaugural concert in 2023 inspired the University to present the Concert once again this year.<\/p>

President Simon Ho further stated that the Concert raised funds for the \u201cStrategic Campus Development Fund\u201d, supporting the overhaul and renovation of the University\u2019s \u201cM\u201d Building which has stood for nearly half a century, alongside other expansion initiatives to accommodate HSUHK\u2019s increasing student population as well as the launch of new programmes. He also expressed hope that the Concert would resonate with the University\u2019s alumni and garner more of their support.<\/p>

Dr Patrick Poon and Dr Francis Yuen thanked various sectors of society for their support and participation, expressing that the Concert showcases the collective strength of the HSUHK community by bringing everyone together for a “Uniquely Common” evening.<\/p>

To promote intergenerational collaboration, cultural exchange, and cultivate the diverse talents of young students, the Concert also featured an ensemble by the Hong Kong iMusic Orchestra and the HSUHK Sinfonietta, as well as performances by HSUHK Choir, formed by a group of students and staff.<\/p>
