The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) holds its Graduation Ceremony 2024 on 4 and 5 December, conferring bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees on more than 2,000 graduates. Dr the Honourable Moses Cheng, Chairman of the Council, and Mr James Tsien, Vice-Chairman of the Council, preside over the Ceremony on Day 1 and Day 2 respectively. Some members of the Board of Governors and of the Council join the celebrations with graduates at HSUHK.<\/p>

Professor Simon S M Ho, President of HSUHK, expresses his warmest congratulations to all graduates and encourages them to help address pressing global challenges such as climate change, geopolitics, poverty, social inequality, aging society, and unstable financial systems through innovative solutions as global citizens. He cites three award-winning innovative projects by alumni and students, including their work on environmental protection, disaster prevention, and social inclusion. He also reminds graduates that humanity and technology will be their ally in making meaningful differences in the world, and cautions that they should not over rely on Artificial intelligence (AI) and be mindful of the risks that come with it. \u201cWhen making decisions using AI, please consider the human and ethical issues. After all, human wisdom and care should transcend other considerations. You should know yourself, and establish your own value beliefs earlier, and make your own decisions instead of letting AI control your choices.\u201d President Ho also advises graduates that the value of higher education is not measured by how well they score or how much they earn after graduating, rather, it is about how much they have grown during their cross-disciplinary learning journey and the impact they continue to make in society. He hopes all graduates find values and fulfilment in their future endeavours.<\/p>

Dr Moses Cheng and Mr James Tsien congratulate the graduates and are delighted to share their joy and excitement. They say that the graduation ceremony is not only to celebrate students\u2019 hard work and accomplishments over the past few years, but also to celebrate the beginning of a very exciting new chapter in their lives. They advise graduates never stop learning, exploring and challenging themselves to achieve even more, and stay confident and strong along the way.<\/p>

At the Ceremony, the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Awards 2023-24 were presented to teachers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching, dedication to continuous improvement in pedagogy, and have made distinguished contributions to teaching and learning. A total of six awardees have been selected this year, they are Dr Christine Choy from the Department of Art and Design; Mr Ricky Lam from the Department of Accountancy; Ms Maggie Lee from the Department of Computer Science; Mr Harry Lee from the Department of Supply Chain and Information Management; Ms Rosalie Woo from the Department of Economics and Finance; and Dr Willy Yue from the Department of Computer Science.<\/p>
