In response to the recent explosion in financial deception and scam cases in Hong Kong, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) announced the launching of the Anti-Scam Education and Research Programme on 31 May 2024. The Programme is the first of its kind among local higher education institutions.<\/p>

The cross-Schools Anti-Scam Programme will increase anti-deception awareness among younger generations, promote academic research to deepen our understanding of the social impact caused by financial fraud, and provide public policy recommendations.<\/p>

In his remarks during the Programme\u2019s launching ceremony, Professor Simon S M Ho, President of HSUHK, highlighted future collaborations with different academic institutes and professional organisations such as Griffith University in Australia, Jinan University in Guangzhou, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, as well as some banking and financial firms. He urged the participants to continue supporting upcoming activities organised by the Anti-Scam Programme Project Team.<\/p>

Alongside Professor Ho, Professor Hui Yer-van, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research), Ms Jani Srimurjani, Superintendent of Police, Divisional Commander Shatin Division, Ms Julia Chan, Chief Inspector of Police, Regional Crime Prevention Office, Crime New Territories South, and \u00a0Programme Project Team Members officiated the launching ceremony.<\/p>

For the first Anti-Scam Programme event, HSUHK invited two senior police officers for a sharing session, during which they shared the latest types and trends of scam cases in Hong Kong, and provided recommendations on how to prevent falling for phone and online fraud cases.<\/p>
