The second talk of the MA lecture series titled \u201cWhat You Want to Know in Legal and Financial Translation<\/i>\u201d held on 13 February 2017. The speaker, Mr Tsang Man Sang, is a former Senior Court Interpreter with the Judiciary of HKSAR.<\/p>\n

Mr Tsang compared the legal documents of Hong Kong and Mainland China in terms of terminology and highlighted some points-to-note for translating certain business documents. Mr Tsang also shared his work of translating colloquial phrases and indecent language commonly heard in court cases.<\/p>\n

He ended the talk by quoting the following sentence \u2013 a definition of a competent interpreter:<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a competent interpreter,one has to know everything of something and something of everything.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n
