13 August 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n In order to enrich the overseas experience of students broadening their international perspectives, and to foster academic cooperation, <\/span>Hang Seng Management College (HSMC)<\/span> has established close partnership with many higher education institutions worldwide. A basketball practice game and a bamboo planting ceremony were held on 13 August 2016 to signify the deep relationship between HSMC and Gordon College of USA.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As a prelude, a basketball shooting game washeld between <\/span>President Simon S M Ho of HSMC and President Michael Lindsayof Gordon College, before the <\/span>exciting<\/span> practicegame between the two student teams. It<\/span>was then followed by a bamboo planting ceremony at the HSMCOpenPlaza, which was presided by the twoPresidents and two student representatives. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Bamboo <\/span>is<\/span> widely planted at HSMC\u2019scampus and bamboo materials ha<\/span>ve<\/span> beenextensively used in its new buildings. HSMC has been adopting t<\/span>he symbolism of bamboo, i.e. uprightness, modesty, simplicity, highadaptability, elegancy with powerfulness, and sustainability, in order toencourage students to act as \u201cJunzi\u201d in their work and life. It is hoped thatthe spirit of a \u2018Junzi university\u2019 is more widely shared with partneruniversities. The ceremony also signifies the close partnership and friendshipof the two universities.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n President Ho and President Lindsay addressed that bothColleges shared the common mission of promoting liberal education. President Hosaid, \u201cAdopting the liberal education model, both HSMC and Gordon Collegestrive to nurture young talents with critical thinking, innovative minds, humancaring<\/span>,<\/span> and socialresponsibilities. Besides academic collaborations, we hope to initiate more co-operationsin different areas including sports.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \n PresidentLindsay<\/span> indicated that HSMCand<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Gordon<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>College<\/span><\/span>\u00a0had <\/span><\/span>established strategic partnership since 2013 <\/span><\/span>with an active studentexchange programme<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>He and President Hoco-hosted several leadership forums and have been contributing to a joint columnon leadership in a newspaper. <\/span>He is impressed that HSMC isvery energetic, providing g<\/span>uidance and mentorship for individual students outside classrooms. Helooks forward to work more closely with HSMC in other teaching and researchinitiatives.<\/p>\n
