{"id":5512,"date":"2016-06-10T15:13:03","date_gmt":"2016-06-10T09:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hsu.edu.hk\/?p=5512"},"modified":"2024-01-16T11:55:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T03:55:20","slug":"1417-provost-office-20160617151703","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsu.edu.hk\/en\/1417-provost-office-20160617151703\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Rehearsal of the First Hong Kong International Drummer Festival 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"art-article\">\n<p><strong>10 June 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><i>Arts at HSMC<\/i> presented Open Rehearsal of the First Hong Kong International Drummer Festival (HKIDF) 2016 \u2013 \u201cYoung Friends @ HSMC\u201d in the afternoons on 6-8 &amp; 10 June.\u00a0 The Open Rehearsal featured international and local renowned drummers and musicians:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 June: \u201cNew Trio\u201d with Peter Erskine <span lang=\"ZH-CN\">\u2013<\/span> recipient of two GrammyAwards, US jazz drummer and composer; has appeared on over 600 albums and filmscores;<\/li>\n<li>7 June: \u201cArrival\u201d with Russ Miller <span lang=\"ZH-CN\">\u2013<\/span> recognised as one of theworld\u2019s top five drummers and US session drummer; has played on multiple GrammyAwards winning recordings with combined sales of over 26 million copies;<\/li>\n<li>8 &amp; 10 June: A band mixing the East and the West \u201cUltimate\u201d with Thomas Lang \u2013 best known for his record of completing a total of 220 drum clinics in 46 countries, Austrian drummer,multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer; Yazhi Guo \u2013 world renowned suonaist and Artist of the Year by the Hong Kong Artist Development Council(2012); and Lok yin Tang \u2013 Hong Kong famous and award-winning composer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Thedrummers and musicians had friendly interactions with the audience in each rehearsalsession. The audience included primary and secondary students who seized theprecious opportunity not only to watch the world-class drummers in action, but alsogot to know their behind-the-scene preparations for performances in close-up.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 10px;
