8 December 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n HSMC Appoints New College Council Chairman and Two New Members of Board of Governors<\/strong><\/p>\n Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) has appointed Dr ChengMo-chi Moses as the Chairman of the College Council, Mr Liang Cheung-biu Thomasand Dr Poon Sun-cheong Patrick as members of the Board of Governors for a termof three years with effect from 16 November 2015. Dr Cheng Mo-chi Moses,<\/b><\/span> GBS, OBE, JP, currently a member of the HSMC Board ofGovernors, is a practising solicitor and senior partner of P. C. Woo & Co.He was the Chairman of the Education Commission (2009 \u2013 2015) and the Chairmanof the former Board of Education (1996 \u2013 2003). He has served as the Chairmanof both the Council and Court of the Hong Kong Baptist University, and asDeputy Chairman of the Council of the Hong Kong Academy for PerformingArts. Since the establishment of HSMC in2010, he has been serving as Governor of the Board, the Chairman of the HumanResources Committee, the Vice-Chairman of the Fundraising and DonationCommittee and Member of the Steering Committee on Campus Expansion. In 2003, Dr Cheng was awarded the Gold BauhiniaStar by the Government of HKSAR in honour of his continuous and significantcontributions to the community. Mr Liang Cheung-biu Thomas<\/b><\/span> is the Chief Executive of Wei Lun Foundation Limited, anIndependent Non-Executive Director of Miramar Hotel & Investment CompanyLimited and New World Development Company Limited, a Director of the Li Po ChunUnited World College of Hong Kong, a member of the Court of the Hong KongBaptist University, and a member of the Council of The Chinese University ofHong Kong. In the area of communityservices, Mr Liang is the Chairman and Director of the Executive Board of HongKong Heart Foundation Limited, Director of the Institute for Heart HealthPromotion Limited, and Representative of one of the donors (Wei Lun FoundationLimited) of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. In support of HSMC\u2019s campusdevelopment, Wei Lun Foundation <\/span>Limited <\/span>made a donation of HK$80 million to HSMC in 2014. Dr Poon Sun-cheong Patrick<\/b><\/span>, Chairman of Harvest SCP Group Company Limited, has servedas the CEO and President of ING Insurance\u2019s Greater China Region and as CEO ofthe China Pacific Life Insurance Company. He has won many community accoladesincluding \u201cThe Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Youth Award\u201d in 1984, the \u201cOutstandingManager Award (CEO and President Category)\u201d in 1988, the \u201cBest InsuranceLeadership Award\u201d at the Insurance \u2013 Belief, Hope & Love Awards, and the\u201cPersonality of the Year Award\u201d at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards in 1999.Dr Poon is also a member of the Court and Council of The University of HongKong (HKU) and Deputy Chairman of the HKU Foundation for EducationalDevelopment and Research, a member of the Court of The Hong Kong PolytechnicUniversity and Chairman of the PolyU Foundation.
