Staff Development Seminar Conducted by Professor Jeong Bon Kim<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 8 December 2014, the Department of Accountancy organiseda Staff Development Seminar (\u201cSeminar\u201d) and invited the Honorable ProfessorJeong Bon Kim (\u91d1\u6b63\u672c\u6559\u6388<\/span>), who is currently the Department Head and ChairProfessor of Accountancy at City University of Hong Kong, to present his mostrecent research study on the relation between a firm\u2019s adoption of eXtensibleBusiness Reporting Language (\u201cXBRL\u201d) and the breadth of share ownership of thefirm that adopts XBRL. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/p>\n

In the Seminar, Professor Kim shared with theaudience the functions of XBRL and how a firm\u2019s adoption of XBRL facilitates atransparent information environment, which helps reduce the time required bythe financial information users to get access to and process the financial dataof different companies. Throughout the presentation, Professor Kim and ourcolleagues had many interesting and fruitful discussions on different aspectsof accounting research, not only limited to XBRL adoption. All our colleaguesfound the Seminar informative and inspiring.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
