To enrich colleagues\u2019 understanding of the development of English-language education across the curriculum, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Staff Development Committee (SDC) jointly organised a seminar entitled \u201cIs There a Fix-all English Curriculum or Educational Programme?\u201d on 31 October. Dr Beatrice Ma from the Centre for Applied English Studies of HKU was invited as the speaker.<\/p>\n

In the seminar, Dr Ma presented and discussed the profile of Hong Kong tertiary students and the development of English-language curriculum of local universities. She also shared with the participants the research findings of students\u2019 language learning experience and their difficulties. Dr Ma then introduced the English-language curriculum of some local universities, shared her views on the current English-language curriculum at HSUHK, and elaborated on how different Schools and study programmes could be working together to help develop our students\u2019 language skills.<\/p>\n

Participants from different Schools were keen on exchanging their views with the speaker during the Q&A session, especially on the English-language needs of students in different study programmes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
