Led by Professor TSO Hung, Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs) and Dean of School of Communication (SCOM) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), a SCOM delegation including Dr SONG Zhaoxun, Associate Professor; Dr WU Jing, Assistant Professor; and Dr ZHAO Mengmeng, Assistant Professor, visited the School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University in Beijing in late September 2019. Professor CHEN Changfeng, Executive Dean; Professor HANG Min, Associate Dean for International Development; and academic staff representatives of the School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. The two Schools held extensive and in-depth discussions on programme curricula, academic research and cooperation possibilities.<\/p>\n

Professor CHEN Changfeng introduced to the SCOM delegation the strategic developments of professionalism and internationalisation of their School. She believed that Tsinghua University\u2019s emphasis on business journalism would join hands with SCOM\u2019s orientation towards business communication to explore corresponding cooperation between the two parties. Professor HANG Min further elaborated on the successful experience of their business journalism programme in students\u2019 training, curriculum structure and international conferences, and made many constructive suggestions for cooperation between the two Schools.<\/p>\n

Professor TSO Hung shared that HSUHK received wide support in Hong Kong and the Mainland. She pointed out that the combination of business and communication as a feature of the School of Communication has brought the School to advantageous positions in the domains of journalism and communication education, research and community services where substantial\u00a0results have been yielded, and the School was now highly recognised by students, parents and society. Professor TSO Hung hoped that the two Schools could explore opportunities for more cooperation in various aspects.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two Schools confirmed cooperation in major projects including sharing of teaching materials on business journalism and communication as well as co-organisation of academic seminars and deans’ forums. Both parties also proposed that a model of sustainable cooperation should be established under which bilateral collaboration could be strengthened to enable sharing of resources of research, publishing and industry engagement through a variety of joint teaching, learning and research activities.<\/p>\n

To form a basis of future collaboration, the two Schools already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
