With the aim to enable staff members a better understanding of how the rapidly changing trends of local higher education impact student affairs, the Office of Vice-President (Organisational Development), the Centre for Teaching and Learning and the Staff Development Committee jointly organised a seminar entitled \u201cEngaging Students to Grow and Glow in HSMC\u201d on 1 Feb 2018. Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development), and Ms Rebecca Chan, Director of Student Affairs, were invited as the seminar speakers.<\/p>\n

In the seminar, Dr Fong and Ms Chan shared with participants the development of higher education in Hong Kong, the findings of students\u2019 needs and employers\u2019 expectations, the challenges of mental health and civic engagement in recent years, and the impacts they have on student affairs. A number of real life cases and dilemmas were cited for group discussion. Dr Fong and Ms Chan gave constructive feedback and exchanged with the participants. The seminar concluded with Dr Fong\u2019s sharing of seven principles of working with students, which can help enable them to \u201cgrow and glow\u201d in HSMC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
