Module Description
This course explores what an e-business is and how it is managed. e-Business is an

interdisciplinary topic encompassing both business and technology. On the business

side, students will learn the major characteristics, opportunities, threats and limitations

of e-Business, and understand how to analyse a web site based on web traffic. On the

technology side, students can understand the basic design principles and requirements

for developing a web site, and able to write a simple interactive web site using the latest

client-side scripting languages and server-side scripting languages.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to

  1. Understand the major characteristics of e-Business, as well as the major differences between an e-Business and a brick-and-mortar Business; understand the basic design principle and requirement of developing a web site

  2. Compare and use different kinds of computer software for developing web sites; understand the importance of web site traffic and use various latest tools to track and analyze the web site traffic

  3. Perform the procedures from purchasing a web domain to publishing a web site; install web server and database management system in a computer; install server-side scripting language that can interact with a web server and a database management
    system.

  4. Build a fully functioned and interactive web site based on HTML, CSS, client-side scripts and server-side scripts
