Module Description
This module arouses students’ interests in exploring Hong Kong natural and cultural heritages, and the dynamic relationship among conservation, sustainable management, marketing, stakeholders’ interests with tourism development, which appeals to students with a background in different arts, social sciences or science disciplines, with his/her own identity and value judgement.



Cultural tourism offers a promising alternative to sustain growing industry, which also contributes to the preservation of the heritage and customs in Hong Kong. Apart from lectures, students are introduced to fieldwork, on-site surveys and expected to create their own tour cultural tourism routes.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. Examine the dynamic relationship among conservation, sustainable management, marketing, stakeholders’ interests with tourism development;

  2. Identify and critically explain the development of cultural tourism in Hong Kong, Macau and South China region;

  3. Create new routes on cultural tourism in Hong Kong, with proper management, conservation and promotion plans; and

  4. Analyze and interpret research materials and on-site surveys.
