This module aims to familiarise students with the basic ideas and concepts in financial

computing. The topics include basic optimization methods, valuation of different assets and

simulation of financial model with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft EXCEL.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. command a conceptual understanding of financial computing;


2. apply computational methods in valuations of different assets;


3. apply computational methods in simulations of different financial models;


4. evaluate and compare the financial computing methods
