ENG4422 - Senior Project (Linguistics)

This module is designed primarily as a directed independent study, where students will implement an approved original linguistics related research project, developed from the research proposal they developed as part of ENG4225 The Nature of Linguistic Research, or another proposal with professor approval. Students will produce an original undergraduate thesis based on their chosen topic, of sufficient length and formatted appropriately. Students will present and defend their research, including their methodology, results and conclusion to their peers and professor. This module is designed to be a capstone module, in which students will have opportunities to apply all of their cumulative knowledge of linguistics and language studies that they have acquired during their studies, and to prepare them for further studies in the field of linguistics.
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Propose and conduct original research on a linguistics related topic.
- Develop and produce a substantial original thesis on a linguistics related topic, appropriately formatted.
- Present and defend their thesis and research to their peers and professors in an appropriate and professional manner, following conventions in the field of linguistics.
